Let’s talk about one of those “Instagram made me buy it” purchases. A few weeks ago, IG got me again with the IGK NEVER MISS Root & Scalp Touch-Up Spray. Since I’m between salon visits (and not getting there anytime soon), I figured it was worth a try.
The Promise
This product claims to instantly cover greys, refresh roots, and blend seamlessly. It’s marketed as a little miracle in a can for anyone trying to stretch their time between salon appointments. I loved the idea of a quick fix that could buy me a couple more weeks without looking obvious or chalky.
In the Instagram video that convinced me to try it, the brand promised that it wouldn’t rub off on your hands or get all over your nails. Another big selling point was that it’s transfer-resistant; which, as someone with all white bedding, I took seriously. I also liked that it claimed to be sweat-proof. For anyone with dark hair, the last thing you want is color running down your face mid-workout.
First Impressions
It definitely works. The color payoff was strong, and the coverage was even. My greys disappeared almost instantly, which felt like a small win. As for staying power? It did what it said and stayed put. I went to Pilates right after applying it, and even after a tough session, it didn’t budge. So, that was impressive.
I got the color Espresso Brown, and it was almost an exact match to my natural shade. I probably didn’t wait long enough to let it fully dry before touching my hair, and I might have been a little heavy-handed with the application. I’ve since learned that with this product, less is more. The second time I used it, I went lighter on the spray, and it made a big difference. It dried quicker, felt lighter, and didn’t leave that heavy product feel in my hair. A little really does go a long way.
By day two, the color does start to wear off. It’s not completely gone, but you can tell it’s faded a bit. Where it goes, I have no idea, but the good news is it still doesn’t end up on my pillowcase — so that’s a win in my book
The Price Point
Here’s where it gave me pause. The spray is $24 for a single can, and to me, that feels a little steep for what it is. I used a fair amount to get full coverage, and I’m not convinced it would last a full month if you use it regularly. There are definitely other quick-fix products out there at a lower price point that might give you similar results.
Final Thoughts
Overall, it works. IGK did what it promised and held up through a busy day, including a sweaty Pilates class. While I’m not totally convinced it’s worth the $24 price tag for regular use, it’s a reliable quick fix when you need to stretch the time between color appointments. Its still 1000% better than the hair coloring crayons.
I think this might be one of those products that’s best for certain hairstyles or occasions—like when your greys are only showing in a few spots or you just want to look extra polished for a night out. I don’t know that I’d wear it every day, but that’s still up for review as I keep testing it.
If you’ve been curious about trying it, I’d say go for it once and see how it fits into your routine and budget Everyone’s hair texture and habits are different, and this might be the perfect in-between solution for you. For me, it’s a good option to keep on hand for those weeks and hairstyles when my roots show up before my next salon visit.
